It is a lot of fun to go out to dinner.  To be waited on while enjoying a great meal and not having to clean up but is it really worth it when they put that bill down on your table? If you could make your favorite restaurant dish at home for a fraction of the cost, would you?

The national statistics show

  1. An increase in dining out for 2009 with IHop and Rubio being the top two for sit-down establishments.
  2. The average family eats out about three times a week and spends about $300-$400 per month.
  3. The cost for just one person is usually about $15.

With a small family of four, that meal can add up quickly and if you have a family of five, or six, or more, you can not leave the restaurant without spending almost a $100 ever time once you add in the tax and a tip.

Cooking at home can save most families about 50%. An entire family of four can eat a healthy, home cooked meal for under $20. Research also shows that children who eat at home with their parents are healthier, happier, and get better grades in school.

With the release of several copycat restaurant recipe cookbooks by professional chefs you can create your favorite dishes at home for a fraction of the cost of dining out. You will find recipes from Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Chili’s, TGIF, and much more.
